As revealed by several British media, Adele and Ed Sheeran refused the invitation to perform at the post-coronation concert of Charles III.

If the interpreter of “Shape of You” can not occur because of a concern of schedule, Adele, she, a priori, had no excuse not to come.

Lionel Richie is strongly expected to sing in honor of the new sovereign.

The coronation of Charles III has never been so close… The son of Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8, will indeed be crowned in less than three months, on May 6, at Westminster Abbey.

A historic event that will be followed around the world.

To mark the occasion, a big concert will take place the next day at Windsor Castle.

Charles III disappointed with Adele and Ed Sheeran's refusal

The father of princes Harry and William already imagined celebrating his coronation by singing the greatest hits of Ed Sheeran and Adele.

"The King suggested a number of people he would like to see perform and Adele and Ed were on that list. He was very keen that they were part of the gig," a source told the Mail on Sunday on

Saturday

. February 18, 2023.

Alas, the two British stars, invited to perform on stage after the coronation, declined the invitation of the new king.

A big disappointment for Charles III.

"They are titans of the showbiz industry and they are British, but also known all over the world. It's a shame," an anonymous source told

OK! magazine.

Ed Sheeran in Texas the day before Charles III's coronation concert

But then, why did Adele and Ed Sheeran refuse such a prestigious invitation?

As the

 Daily Mail reports,

Ed Sheeran is simply not available on May 7.

The interpreter of

Shape of You

indeed occurs in Texas the day before the concert of the coronation of Charles III.

On the other hand, the reasons for Adele's refusal are much more vague.

The star's residency in Las Vegas ends on March 25, well before the king's coronation.

The concert program in honor of King Charles III has still not been unveiled.

But an artist is approached to ensure the show: Lionel Richie, quoted in several British media.

The interpreter of

Stuck on You

has been friends with the son of Elizabeth II for a very long time.

The singer is even the ambassador of the new king's foundation.

If we do not know which artists will be present at the concert, the playlist of the festivities was put online at the beginning of February.

Queen, Spice Girls, David Bowie or the Beatles... Charles III obviously chose 100% British songs.

And, the sovereign has even opted for modernity:

Celestial,

a song by Ed Sheeran, is in his playlist.

Proof that the son of Elizabeth II wants to further modernize the image of the monarchy: in addition to having asked Adele and Ed Sheeran to perform at his concert (unsuccessfully, therefore), he also sent an invitation to a a certain Harry Styles, icon of a whole stereotyped generation.

Will the former member of One Direction be there?

Only a few more weeks before finding out...
