Another miracle child.

Three people, including a child, were found alive on Saturday, February 18, under the rubble of a collapsed building in Hatay, southern Turkey, thirteen days after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit the country and Syria, killing more than 40,000.

One of these three survivors, however, died within minutes of being rescued, private Turkish channel NTV reported.

Nearly 300 hours under the rubble

The other two people, including a child, pulled from the rubble 296 hours after the earthquake, were transferred to hospital.

The ages and identities of the survivors are currently unknown.

The survivors were extracted from the debris by Turkish and Kyrgyz rescue teams, according to Turkish media.

Another survivor, a 45-year-old man, was found Friday evening, 278 hours after the earthquake in the province of Hatay, near the Syrian border, which notably houses the city of Antakya, completely devastated.

The chances of survival appear to be getting weaker day by day around the quake's epicenter further north, in mountainous regions like Kahramanmaras, and even snow-capped regions of Elbistan and Adiyaman, where the thermometer dropped overnight to - 15°C.

The latest official toll from the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria stands at 39,672 dead.
