Christian Atsu, Ghanaian international and former FC Porto, Chelsea and Newcastle player, is one of the victims of the earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria in early February.

Many clubs, personalities and former teammates paid tribute to him after learning the news of his disappearance, this Saturday, February 18.

Initially, the Ghanaian Embassy in Turkey and the Ghana Football Federation assured that the striker was found alive right after the earthquake.

Tributes in Europe and the Premier League

The Ghanaian, revealed by FC Porto in 2011, then went through many clubs in the English championship between 2013 and 2021, such as Chelsea, Everton or Newcastle.

He had recently been recruited by Turkish club Hatayspor last September.

Many tributes were paid to him by his former clubs in Europe this Saturday, February 18, in particular on the lawns of the Premier League before the start of the matches of the 24th day of the championship.

An ambassador of Ghanaian football

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) also paid tribute to him, saying it was " 

saddened by the tragic death of the Ghanaian international

The Ghana national team, with whom he played 65 games - including four editions of the African Cup of Nations - and reached the 2015 AFCON final in Equatorial Guinea, released a video of his finest achievements under the Black Stars jersey.

André Ayew, the current Ghana captain, also paid tribute to his former national team-mate.
