About 30 second-year students at Tamagawa Elementary School in Chino City have been learning about eating insects, which is also a traditional food culture of Nagano Prefecture, in life studies classes since last autumn.

On the 16th, parents were invited to present their learning achievements, and they challenged themselves to make pancakes using cricket powder produced at a local factory.

The children were surprised at the dark color of the cricket powder, but mixed it with pancake mix and milk and baked it in a frying pan until it turned brown.

The children who tasted it said, "It tastes like a normal pancake," or "I can't tell it's a cricket."

In addition, in the presentation of the learning results, it was explained that crickets require less food than cows and pigs to produce the same amount of protein.

After the presentation, the children said, "I learned that the whole body of a cricket can be eaten." And so on.
