Police are confirming the identity of the elderly couple who live in this house and have been unable to contact after the fire.

Around 6:00 pm on the 14th, in a two-story wooden house in Kanonji-cho, Izumi City, Osaka, a woman passing by said, ``There is fire and smoke,'' and a fire department was notified.



About 10 fire engines and other vehicles were dispatched, and the fire was extinguished after about 50 minutes.



According to the police, an 82-year-old husband, a 73-year-old wife, and a 47-year-old eldest daughter live in the house at the origin of the fire, and they have not been able to contact them since the fire.



In addition, according to her eldest daughter, who was out of the house at the time of the fire and was safe, both the couple needed nursing care, and the 73-year-old wife was already bedridden.



Police believe that the couple may have died, and are investigating the cause of the fire while confirming their identity.
