App "Shake" function is too sensitive, how to control mobile app random jump

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued new standards requiring no misleading and no forced jumping to experts: the management of leading Internet companies should be restrained

As soon as I clicked on the weather app, the advertisement on the screen came into view, and I jumped to other apps with a shake of my hand. "Shake" also has the function of jumping to the advertising app; what's more, the download interface of the illegal app suddenly pops up after "shaking" Relevant standards for information pop-up jumps have been officially implemented, requiring no misleading or forced jumps.

  App random jumps cause trouble

Nowadays, the "shake" function of apps is becoming more and more common, which enhances the convenience of use, but some apps are too sensitive to "shake" or jump randomly, which brings troubles to users.

A user from Beijing said, "When listening to music on Netease Cloud Music, I clicked on the music software, but I just blinked my eyes on the screen opening interface, and the page instantly jumped to Taobao." A user said: "The weather app is very good, but as long as you don't stop when you open it, you will jump to other apps immediately, so if you have to stop when you are walking." A user expressed his real experience.

Another user introduced his embarrassing and helpless experience: "When the subway was quiet, I clicked on Weibo, but after changing the phone from the left hand to the right hand, the page jumped to the shopping app again. .”

A reporter from the Beijing Youth Daily noticed that most of the Apps now set a link to the advertisement jump on the screen opening interface, but the opening method is different.

Some are clicked on the picture to jump, some are "shake" to jump; some have obvious "skip" on the page, and some are very hidden, even after clicking "skip", they will still jump to the advertisement The interface is very inconvenient.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued relevant standards

A reporter from Beiqing Daily learned that in 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology launched a special rectification on the problem of App pop-up harassment users, and the effect was good.

At present, the problem of "unable to close" the pop-up window information on the App opening screen has been basically solved, and the discovery rate of the "random jump" problem has dropped significantly.

But I never expected that after the rectification, the APP opening screen advertisement will usher in an "upgraded version".

Some companies have begun to use "shake" and "twist" as jump links.

Now, there is finally an answer to the matter.

In order to standardize App "shake" random jumps and other issues, according to the "Regulations on the Protection of Personal Information of Telecommunications and Internet Users", under the guidance of the Information and Communications Administration of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the Tel Terminal Laboratory, and the Telecom Terminal Industry The association united with Tel Certification Center Co., Ltd., OPPO Guangdong Mobile Communication Co., Ltd., Vivo Mobile Communication Co., Ltd., Beijing Qihoo Technology Co., Ltd., Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Wuhan Antiy Information Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Sankuai Online Technology Co., Ltd. The company, Xiaomi Communication Technology Co., Ltd., Alibaba (China) Co., Ltd. and many other companies jointly formulated the "App User Rights Protection Evaluation Specification Part 7: Deception, Misleading and Compulsive Behavior" T/TAF078.7-2022, and in 2022 On November 25, 2010, it was officially released and implemented by the Telecommunication Terminal Industry Association.

This standard has requirements on parameters such as acceleration, rotation angle, and time for "shaking" device jumps.

It is proposed that the acceleration of the equipment for the "shaking" action should not be less than 15m/s2, the rotation angle should not be less than 35°, and the operation time should not be less than 3s, or the acceleration value, direction, and rotation angle should be considered at the same time, or the above-mentioned single Other parameter settings equivalent to trigger conditions ensure that users will not be misled or forced to jump when non-users actively trigger jumps in daily life such as walking, riding, picking up and putting down mobile smart terminals.

More random jumps to be resolved

In fact, in addition to "shaking", users are also very critical of other forms of random jumping.

For example, some users said that they saw an interesting comment with a picture on Weibo, and wanted to click on the picture to see the clear content, but they were redirected to the Jingdong shopping app; some users said that they read a news article online. , halfway through, the system automatically jumps to the download page, and prompts that you can’t continue reading the second half without downloading; what’s more, when you surf the Internet at night, you click the same link, and you actually jump to a different interface from the daytime , Some illegal apps popped up at night, including gambling and pornography.

Users hate this kind of jump behavior.

However, some experts said that there are no regulations and punishment standards in relevant fields at present, and problems such as different content of jumps opened during the day and night make it difficult to obtain evidence and also bring difficulties to governance.

"The introduction of this standard is very good, but it is still 'prevent gentlemen but not villains'."

  expert opinion

The old function becomes a new model and jumps randomly into "rogue behavior"

Liu Xingliang, dean of the DCCI Internet Research Institute, told the Beijing Youth Daily reporter, "App redirection mainly has several purposes. The first is to obtain traffic, which is more expensive in real traffic; the second is to attract new users. To get new users, you will use the method of jumping to let you download; the third type is some side-scrolling, which is the hardest hit area for App jumping profit; the fourth type is completely illegal, it may be a phishing website, disguised as a bank payment method Apps, pornographic gambling sites, etc.”

"One kind of random jumping is to force or induce clicks on links in the app, enter the embedded browser, and open the advertisement page; the other is to jump to the default browser of the mobile phone to display advertisements, and the former is relatively more." Liu Huafang, the founder of Mister Technology, said, “This kind of practice will make netizens feel tired and negatively evaluate the Internet industry, affect the health of the industry, and infringe on users’ right to choose information freely. It is a hooligan behavior.”

How to deal with this kind of passive jump behavior that users hate?

Fu Liang, an independent telecommunications analyst, told Beiqing Daily that "jumping is not a new function, but after the 'shake' function has been discovered and used by everyone, App jumping has developed into a new mode. Maybe users A new thing will appear if you touch it by mistake, especially on the mobile phone of the elderly, you will find that after using it for a period of time, it will add a lot of unnecessary apps, WeChat public accounts, etc., and even directly affect the mobile phone applications.”

For users, Liu Xingliang suggested, "First of all, from the source, you should go to some formal websites; secondly, be cautious when making any clicks; thirdly, even if you jump, you need to be more careful to distinguish Take a look, especially when it comes to money and personal information.”

Experts also believe that similar phenomena are common at present.

"This kind of situation should require big companies to have obvious label reminders, and should not mislead netizens." Liu Huafang said.

Fu Liang mentioned: "This involves some platform responsibilities, and I think management should be regulated."
