Why does the express delivery slow down after half a month?

A number of courier companies said that the shortage of manpower at individual sites caused a backlog of express items

During the Spring Festival this year, some express companies retained employees with high salaries and promised off-peak holidays, so many users who still had express packages to receive during the Spring Festival felt the delivery timeliness similar to that of normal days.

However, after the Spring Festival holiday, some express delivery brands in some areas have experienced delays in the delivery timeliness.

A reporter from the Beijing Youth Daily learned that some shipments did not update their logistics information for nearly ten days after they arrived at the terminal.

It took more than half a month on the express route

Some netizens reported that the express delivery was slow

Recently, some Hangzhou netizens reported that Yunda Express is getting slower and slower.

The goods ordered online on January 16th were delivered by Yunda on February 2nd, and they were on the road for more than half a month.

Coincidentally, Mr. Zhao in Beijing also said that the products he bought on the e-commerce platform had arrived at the Jitu Express site near his receiving address on January 30, but the express information had not been updated until February 8.

The strange thing is that another courier delivered by the same merchant at the same time was received on February 7.

"The two couriers were delivered by Jitu, and the seller sent the goods at the same time depending on the time. The other piece of information shows that it has not yet arrived in the hands of the courier brother."

Not only that, express shipments in other regions have also encountered delays.

Some netizens reported on some complaint platforms that their express delivery was delivered by express companies such as Shentong, Debon, and Tiantian, but there were delays in delivery.

Some have not been delivered for as long as one month, or have arrived at the grassroots outlets but have not updated the delivery information for seven or eight days.

This also caused complaints from netizens: "In the past, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai basically arrived the next day, and Guangdong arrived in two days. Recently, it can take four or five days." "The recent express delivery is really tiring! Slow down and forget it, several express cards are in the distribution There is no bullet in the center." Some netizens also reported that whether they can receive the express delivery in time recently depends entirely on "luck".

The courier who returned home did not return to work in time

Some sites are short of manpower after years

A reporter from the Beiqing Daily learned that for the delay in Mr. Zhao's express delivery, Jitu customer service said that it was due to an abnormal site, which may be due to insufficient delivery personnel.

The site's further explanation to Mr. Zhao stated that due to the shortage of manpower after the year, the number of express delivery has increased rapidly, resulting in a backlog of express delivery.

A staff member surnamed Zhang said that at present, Jitu Company has "recruited a foreign courier brother to handle these express shipments", but Mr. Zhao still needs to wait another three to five days.

In addition, the relevant person in charge of Yunda Express said that after understanding, due to the overall sharp increase in business volume and the shortage of manpower in individual outlets, some express items were not delivered in time.

At present, the relevant outlets are already deploying personnel to deliver.

A reporter from the Beiqing Daily learned from a number of express delivery sites that some sites do experience a shortage of people after the new year.

"Colleagues who were on off-peak vacation went on vacation, and some promised to say that those who came back to work have not yet come." A courier boy told a reporter from Beiqing Daily that only half of the original 10 delivery guys were on duty. Delivery is naturally slower than before.

Not only that, but some of the backlog of express mail needs to be sorted and digested one after another.

On the recruitment website, a courier recruitment advertisement promising a monthly salary of 10,000+ appeared again.

A reporter from the Beiqing Daily learned that the "labor shortage" at the courier site was due to the fact that some couriers resigned directly before the Spring Festival because of the problem of Chinese New Year vacation.

In addition, after the Spring Festival, some courier brothers who returned home during the Spring Festival did not return to work after the festival.

The period after the Spring Festival holiday is the most difficult time to recruit workers.

"Many people haven't come back now, and no matter how high the daily salary is, we can't find someone to do it. We have posted job advertisements in the community, and we haven't received many calls." A person in charge of a courier site said.

Expected to start this week to next week

The problem of express delivery timeliness can be alleviated

A reporter from Beiqing Daily learned that the slowdown of express delivery in some areas after the Spring Festival is not only caused by the lack of people at the terminal station.

A person in charge of a courier company explained that because some e-commerce express items are delivered directly from warehouses, warehouses in some areas are closed until the fifteenth day of the first lunar month.

As a result, the platform shows that there is a logistics order number, but there has been no logistics information.

Some are delayed due to lack of manpower in transit and sorting centers in some regions.

"In the week after the 15th day of the first lunar month, some e-commerce packages will start to be shipped. With the return of personnel, the labor shortage after the holiday will also pass. It is expected that most of the express site problems with abnormal timeliness will be resolved from this week to the next. It will be resolved during this week.” Mr. Guo, a senior express delivery industry professional, said.

According to data from the State Post Bureau, during the Spring Festival holiday this year (January 21-27), about 410 million express parcels were received, an increase of 5.1% compared with last year's Spring Festival holiday, and about twice that of the same period in 2019.

With the introduction of policies to promote consumption and smooth circulation in various places, consumer demand has rebounded rapidly, market development vitality has increased, and the capital market is expected to be good. It is expected that the industry will achieve rapid growth in February.
