While the wearing of masks as a countermeasure against the new coronavirus is being reviewed based on the decision to leave it to the individual, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is recommending that elderly people and other people with a high risk of becoming seriously ill go to crowded places during the epidemic. It was found that adjustments were made to summarize the basic idea, such as disseminating that wearing is effective in preventing infection.

On May 8th, the government will shift the position of the new corona under the Infectious Disease Law to "5", the same as seasonal influenza, etc., and currently, in principle, wearing a mask indoors , the basic policy is to leave it to individual judgment.

Regarding this, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is considering basic ideas such as disseminating situations where wearing a mask is effective to help make decisions. It turns out that they are making adjustments to let people know that wearing it is effective to prevent themselves from getting infected when going to a crowded place.

In addition, when visiting medical institutions and facilities for the elderly, it is recommended to wear a mask to prevent the spread of infection to other people.

On the other hand, it seems that the wearing of masks when infected people go out will be carefully considered based on the opinions of experts.

In the future, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is expected to announce a policy as soon as possible regarding the timing of reviewing mask wearing after listening to the opinions of experts.
