Senegalese justice has ordered the opening of investigations into alleged cases of "corruption and abuse of function" in the management of anti-covid funds, after the publication of a report by the Court of Auditors alleging irregularities, the prosecution said.

“I have asked the judicial police units of the Criminal Investigations Division (DIC) to open preliminary investigations,” said the public prosecutor Amady Diouf in a press release. 

Ivorian scientist Adjata Kamara has developed a biopesticide that allows yams to be stored for two or three months instead of two weeks.

Her discovery earned her the L'Oréal-UNESCO prize for women in science last December in Abidjan.
