On the 2nd of this month, one person was found dead inside the sunken cargo ship in an accident in which two cargo ships collided near the Kurushima Strait off the coast of Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture and one ship sank.


Two crew members are missing in this accident, and the Japan Coast Guard is proceeding with identification as one of them was found.

On the 2nd of this month, the cargo ship "Seiryu" (716 tons) in Toba City, Mie Prefecture collided with another cargo ship and sank near the Kurushima Straits in the northwest of Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture.



In the accident, Seiryu's captain Sosuke Kitai (63) and first officer Yuki Watanabe (24) are missing.



In the search so far, it was found that "Seiryu" was sunk in the seabed at a depth of 57 meters, but after 7:00 am on the 6th, when the Japan Coast Guard's special rescue team examined the inside of the ship, It is said that one body was found in the control room.



The Japan Coast Guard considers it to be a missing crew member, and as well as confirming his identity, continues to search for him by dispatching patrol boats.
