[On-site voice] Respond to the bus stop. If you need to get off the bus, please ring the bell to signal.

[Explanation] On February 6, the first batch of "response stop buses" in Chengdu, Sichuan Province was officially launched, with a total of 11 lines in trial operation.

The so-called "response stop bus" means that when the bus enters the station, if there are no passengers in the bus to ring the bell, no passengers to wait at the station, and no other buses to stop at the station, the vehicle will slow down and pass the station.

In addition, the "response stop bus" does not mean that you can stop anywhere by ringing the bell. For the sake of traffic safety and regulation, the bus must stop at the station.

[Same period] "Response to stop bus" driver Wu Xu

Judging from today’s operation, I leave at eight o’clock. During the peak period, this line has about 21 or 2 stops, and there are about three or four stops without stopping. It still saves about There are three or four minutes.

Judging from the situation at Pingfeng at ten o'clock just now, there are more non-stop stops, and there are about five or six stops without stopping.

Calculated in this way, our original normal running time for one lap was about 32 minutes, but now there are five or six (stations) without stopping, which should still save five or six minutes of time.

[Explanation] On the bus stop sign, there will be a special red text prompt for the trial run "response stop bus" line; there are also multiple prompts "please ring the bell when getting off" inside the vehicle, and it is equipped with a special voice broadcast.

According to the staff of the bus group, not all bus lines are suitable for "response stops", and the trial run lines need to meet three criteria.

[Concurrent] Tan Wei, Deputy Director of the Passenger Transport Management Department of Chengdu Public Transport Group

The first is that the passenger flow of the line has obvious irregularities; the second is that the passenger flow difference between the various stations of the line is relatively large; the third is that the passenger flow of the station has a relatively large difference in different time periods.

It is a trial run line selected based on these three principles.

[Explanation] The launch of "Response to Stopped Buses" has also generated discussions on the Internet such as "passengers can't operate", "children will ring the bell when they are naughty", "it is inconvenient for the elderly to ring the bell".

In this regard, the bus group said that these issues have been taken into account in the design.

[Concurrent] Tan Wei, Deputy Director of the Passenger Transport Management Department of Chengdu Public Transport Group

First we made an in-car video to inform passengers, and now we are playing this video in many of our cars.

After pressing the bell once, it will be invalid if you press it a second time and a third time. If there is an accidental touch, he (the driver) still has to follow our standard procedures and still have to stop at the station.

The position of the bell is first of all considered to be convenient for passengers to drop off (places), so the setting of the drop-off door is to install two additional (bell rings). All retrofitted (ring the bell).

During the (test) operation period, each of our vehicles will also be equipped with certain professional volunteers, who will guide them.

[Explanation] "Responsive stop bus" reduces unnecessary time-consuming on the way and improves the efficiency of bus operation, which has naturally been recognized and supported by passengers.

  [Concurrent] Passenger Ms. Wu

I think this kind of behavior is very good, very convenient, not long-winded (meaningless).

Slowly I think I will get used to it.

  [Concurrent] Passenger Ms. Jiang

Like a normal bus, it has to stop at every stop if there is no one there, but it can stop when there is no one.

It doesn't matter to us old people. For young people, especially when they go to work, he just has to catch up with this time.

This is good I think.

  [Concurrent] Passenger Ms. Ruan

Save time, it is more convenient to go to work if no one stops.

[Explanation] In fact, "responsive stop bus" is not the first initiative in Chengdu. Similar services have been launched in Hangzhou, Zhengzhou and other places before, and localities are also exploring service upgrades based on passenger opinions.

It is reported that in the next step, Chengdu Public Transport Group will use the support of public transport big data to accurately count passenger flow data at line sites and analyze changes in the efficiency of the trial run lines for subsequent optimization and adjustment.
