On the 2nd of this month, two cargo ships collided near the Kurushima Strait off the coast of Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, and one ship sank, and a ship found on the nearby seabed was confirmed to be a cargo ship in Toba City, Mie Prefecture.
Two crew members are still missing, and the Japan Coast Guard will continue to search the surrounding waters and dive into the sea to check the condition of the hull.
On the 2nd of this month, the cargo ship "Seiryu" (716 tons) in Toba City, Mie Prefecture collided with another cargo ship and sank near the Kurushima Straits in the northwest of Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture.
In the search so far, it was discovered that the ship was sunk at the bottom of the sea at a depth of 57 meters. It means that it was confirmed as "Seiryu" from the character of the ring.
In the accident, Seiryu's captain Sosuke Kitai (63) and first officer Yuki Watanabe (24) are missing.
A half-submerged life raft was found in the surrounding waters on the 4th, but no clues leading to the discovery of the two have been found in the search so far.
The Japan Coast Guard will continue to send out patrol boats to search for the two men, and will also dive into the sea to check the condition of the hull.
