The Robert Laffont editions launched this Wednesday a literary competition to find a new novelist or a new novelist.

Originality of the event aimed at young adults: the candidates will have to present their project on TikTok.

“The principle: pitch your novel on TikTok and have the publishers read the manuscript,” explained Robert Laffont in a press release.

If the principle of the competition to embark on a career as a writer is not new, the publishing house of the Editis group innovates by requesting not only a manuscript but also a video presentation of the novel, 2 minutes maximum.

Make way for “booktokers”

The only two conditions to participate in the contest are to have never been published and to be over 18 years old.

"There is no age limit, but we imagine that we will attract a certain age category", specifies Robert Laffont.

The idea is in particular to attract "booktokeuses" for Robert Laffont's youth catalog, the R.

The jury is also made up of ten of them, each with between 10,000 and 174,000 subscribers.

Manuscripts and videos are expected until March 31, with a view to proclamation of the winning novel in June and publication at the end of 2023.
