After 7:30 pm on the 2nd, the Imabari Coast Guard and others were notified that two cargo ships had collided in the Kurushima Strait off the coast of Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture.

After that, one cargo ship sank, and two people have not been contacted, and the Coast Guard and fire department are confirming the safety of the crew.

According to the Imabari Coast Guard Office and the fire department, the cargo ship Seiryu (716 tons) from Toba City, Mie Prefecture and the cargo ship Koei Maru from Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture collided.

Of these, the Seiryu sank before 9pm and three of her five crew members were rescued, two of whom have not been contacted.



All three rescued people are conscious.



In addition, it is said that the safety of the four crew members of the collided Koei Maru has been confirmed.



According to the fire department, the location where the two ships collided is believed to be off the south side of Okamura Island in Imabari City, and the Coast Guard and fire department are investigating the details of the accident.
