Writer Andrzej Sapkowski attended a conference at the Taipei International Book Fair (TIBE), during which he answered a series of questions.

The author of the series of books about Geralt of Rivia expressed his opinion about the TV series The Witcher, released on the Netflix streaming service.

He was brief and did not give the project a detailed assessment.

Asked if he liked the adaptation starring Henry Cavill, Sapkowski replied, “I've seen better.

I've seen worse."

In addition to the attitude to the series, those present at the conference were interested in the literary continuation of the Witcher universe.

According to Sapkowski, he has plans to write novels, but fans should not wait for the further development of Geralt's story.

“The story is complete, the saga has come to an end, so if I suddenly write something in the Witcher universe - and I certainly have such intentions - it will most likely be something like a prequel or branch ( from the main story. -

), but not a direct continuation, ”the author explained.

Among other things, Sapkowski expressed his opinion about the future of science fiction literature.

According to the author, fantasy will not lose its popularity, this genre will always have an immortal group of readers.

The writer believes that fantasy literature will develop, because every year novels by new authors appear on the bookshelves, which feed the love of fans of the genre.

In addition, the science fiction writer said that in his free time, “on duty,” he himself reads a lot of science fiction literature in order to keep abreast of new products.

However, according to the author of The Witcher, he prefers to study books exclusively in the original, and not in translation.

Sapkowski noted that it is easiest for him to read texts in English, however, he is able to read in about ten languages, including Russian and Czech.

In addition to fantasy, Sapkowski reads crime and detective fiction from authors such as Harlan Coben, David Baldacci and Lee Child.

Meanwhile, the release of the third season of The Witcher is planned for 2023.

This will be the last season to feature Henry Cavill as Geralt.

In October 2022, it became known that in the fourth season, Cavill's place will be taken by Liam Hemsworth, known from the films of the Hunger Games franchise.

Cavill announced this on his Instagram account *.

“Instead of me, the image of the White Wolf will be tried on by the fantastic Liam Hemsworth.

As is the case with the greatest literary heroes, I pass this baton on with gratitude for the time I spent playing Geralt, and I look forward to seeing Liam play this amazing and multifaceted person.

Oh, glorious Liam, there is so much amazing depth in this character - I wish you a pleasant dive and discovery, ”the actor said in the publication.

Most fans reacted negatively to this news.

Some of the fans even said they wouldn't watch the show without Henry Cavill.

Some users on the network suggested that Cavill, himself a big fan of Andrzej Sapkowski's work, refused to further participate in the project due to large discrepancies with the original text.

Others felt that the actor simply made a choice in favor of another picture about Superman.

However, in December it was reported that Henry Cavill would not be participating in the filming of the new film about the DC hero, but this did not end his collaboration with DC Studios.
