(Chinese New Year walks to the grassroots) The lonely bridgekeeper of the tallest cement poured railway bridge in Asia

China News Service, Xingyi, February 1st (Wu Luoxia) On the normal speed railway line from Nanning to Kunming, there is a 183-meter-high railway bridge - Qingshuihe Bridge, which is the highest cement-cast railway bridge in Asia .

Si Yupeng, a railway policeman, persevered through long-term loneliness to make the bridge operate safely.

In 2006, Yang Fuming, a policeman from the Qingshuihe Police District of the Xingyi Station Police Station of the Nanning Railway Public Security Department, started his guarding tour of the Qingshuihe Bridge. Became his loneliest moment.

In order to prevent the deterioration of language and communication functions, he insisted on reading for 10 minutes every day.

In May 2018, Yang Fuming left the bridge that he was reluctant to part with, and the burden of guarding the Qingshui River Bridge was passed on to his apprentice Si Yupeng.

Si Yupeng, who joined the police in August 2017, is originally from Chuxiong, Yunnan. After graduating from university, he was recruited as a civil servant and came to the Xingyi Railway Station Police Station to learn line business from Yang Fuming, the police chief of the Qingshuihe Police District.

Si Yupeng recalled the first time he came to the Qingshuihe Bridge with his master, and felt a little dizzy and flustered when looking down from the bridge, not to mention that the bridge vibrated when the train passed by, and the howling wind seemed to blow people off the bridge.

In addition, Si Yupeng also needs to face work problems such as village schools along the railway line, large-scale farmers, and internal railway units in the jurisdiction. This makes Si Yupeng, who has just taken over the Qingshuihe Police District, feel pressure.

After taking over the Qingshuihe Police District for a period of time, Si Yupeng also encountered new difficulties in addition to work pressure.

Si Yupeng, who has just graduated from university and left his hometown to work in a different place, only has two "family visit leaves" at most every year, and the total length of the two vacations does not exceed 15 days.

Sometimes when a train from Xingyi speeds past the bridge, Si Yupeng's eyes will follow the train for a long time—that is the direction of his hometown, Chuxiong, Yunnan.

Whenever he goes home, his parents always urge him to find a partner, but Si Yupeng, who has been stationed in the mountains to guard the bridge for a long time, feels like he is "out of touch" with other young people.

Due to the nature of work, Si Yupeng has very few peers around him. When chatting with friends, he found that he could hardly find other topics besides his own work every time. "When I realized this, I felt that I was a little Lonely." Si Yupeng said.

Today, as a bridge guard who has worked on the Qingshuihe Bridge for five years, Si Yupeng has naturally become the "old police chief" of the Qingshuihe Police District.

After five years of rooting, he is now able to communicate with the villagers fluently in the local dialect, and the villagers have gradually trusted him as the new "post-95" sheriff.

On weekdays, Si Yupeng would also publicize the knowledge of anti-telecom fraud to the villagers, and even thought of establishing a WeChat group to strengthen the connection with schools, villages, and internal units along the railway, and established his own work contact circle , Si Yupeng can always know the big and small things that happen in the police area under his jurisdiction at the first time.

During the Spring Festival this year, a large number of migrant workers from the villages on both sides of the Qingshui River returned to their hometowns for the New Year. It takes more than three hours for villagers to reach the opposite bank and take a detour through the mountain road. Crossing the Qingshui River Bridge has become the first choice for villagers on both sides of the river.

In addition, the scenery of the Qingshui River scenic spot can be seen at a glance from the bridge, and the number of passengers who take pictures and check in during the Spring Festival holidays increases, all of which threaten the safety of railway traffic.

In order to ensure the normal running of trains and the personal safety of villagers and passengers, Si Yupeng can only strengthen inspections on the bridge during key time periods, and promptly discourage passengers taking pictures from getting off the bridge.

Guarding the safety of the Qingshuihe Police District and ensuring the smooth flow of the "artery of the motherland" Nankun Line, Si Yupeng stood on the Qingshuihe Bridge and looked in the direction of his home, as if he could hear the laughter of passengers when they arrived at the destination smoothly, vaguely See the proud smiles on the faces of loved ones.

After taking over the baton from the previous generation of bridge guards, the Qingshuihe Police District has maintained "zero occurrence" of cases endangering driving safety and public order, accidents involving large livestock on the road, and railway traffic accidents for 906 days, effectively ensuring the safety of the area under its jurisdiction.
