The installation of the storage ring tunnel equipment was started. With the successful installation of the first pre-collimation unit of the storage ring, it marked that the installation of the HEPS accelerator equipment has entered a critical stage, and it also presented a "birthday gift" to the Institute of High Energy, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

  The HEPS storage ring is an ultra-low emittance electron ring accelerator, used for the third-level acceleration of electrons, and simultaneously generates synchrotron radiation light. The energy of the electron beam is 6 gigaelectron volts, and the horizontal natural emittance is better than 60 picometers. The beam current With a circumference of about 1360.4 meters, it is the largest accelerator in China and the third largest light source accelerator in the world. The area inside the ring is about 20 football fields.

  As the core facility of the Huairou Science City major science and technology infrastructure cluster jointly built by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Beijing, HEPS was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission and undertaken by the Institute of High Energy Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. After completion, it will become the fourth project with the lowest emissivity and the highest brightness in the world. One of the first-generation synchrotron radiation sources.

The HEPS large scientific device is mainly composed of accelerators, beamlines and experimental stations. At present, its infrastructure package has passed the completion acceptance, the linear accelerator has completed equipment installation and commissioning, the intensifier has been fully connected, and the beamline station shed has started installation.
