On the morning of the 1st, there was a fire that burned a house and store in Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, and one person was found dead from the burnt ruins.

Police and fire departments are rushing to confirm the safety of the elderly couple who live there, and are investigating the cause of the fire.

Around 7:20 am on the 1st, a nearby person reported to the fire department that a fire was breaking out from a residential and store building in Dairyo Nakamachi, Komatsu City.



The fire was extinguished after about two hours, but a two-story wooden building that served as a bicycle store and a residence was burned, and one person was found dead in the burnt ruins.



According to police, three people, a man in his 80s, his wife in her 70s, and a daughter, live in the house, and have lost contact with the two couples after the fire.

The daughter is said to have escaped unharmed.



A 77-year-old man who lives nearby said, "There was a lot of black smoke, and the tires in the store were burning. My father is in a wheelchair, so I'm worried that he failed to escape. My mother evacuated once. I also heard that he returned to the store again, so he may have gone to help his father."



Police and fire departments continue to search the scene, hurry to confirm the safety of the couple, and investigate the detailed cause of the fire.



The site was along the railroad track in a residential area nearly 2 kilometers from JR Komatsu Station, and the JR Hokuriku Main Line was temporarily suspended due to the fire.
