The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority announced that the Arab adventurer, who resides in the UAE, Tema Darian, whose trip is supported by the Authority, is one step closer to completing the "Explorer Grand Slam" challenge, after successfully completing a month-long expedition in Antarctica.

In order to highlight the emirate’s capabilities as a pioneering center for adventures in the region, the authority cooperated with Tema to provide the emirate’s stunning natural beauty, desert terrain and rugged mountainous areas as an ideal training ground for the penultimate stage of the challenge, which it imposed on itself to complete the Seven Summits, which are the highest peaks in the seven continents Skiing to reach the north and south poles.

Tima started climbing in 2016 and spent most of her weekends exploring the mountains of Ras Al Khaimah, where she set her sights on becoming the first Arab woman to complete the Explorer Grand Slam challenge.

In cooperation with the authority, Tema was able to successfully complete a month-long expedition in Antarctica late last year, climbing Mount Vinson, the highest peak on the continent at 4,892 meters, before skiing to the South Pole, and is currently training for an expedition to the North Pole in next April.

Tema, who prides itself on being a supporter of environmental conservation and building sustainability, respects the natural environment, and therefore supports Ras Al Khaimah's "balanced tourism" strategy, by ensuring that the only thing left behind during its training sessions and expeditions is footprints.
