A restaurant that lost its store in the large-scale fire that occurred in Kitakyushu's Tanga market in April last year has resumed operations for the first time in about nine months.

The restaurant "Ichibe", which was operating along the Tanga Market in Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City, has resumed business.

The new store was set up in Tanga Market, about 50 meters away from the original location.

The owner, Akemi Tokuoka (86), was aiming for an early resumption of business, but the market was delayed due to another large-scale fire in August last year.

With the help of volunteers, we were finally able to reopen on February 1st, nine months after the fire.

Mr. Tokuoka prepared the famous dago soup.

As soon as the shop opened, customers started coming in to taste the dagojiru, which contains hand-stretched noodles, carrots, and konnyaku.

Mr. Tokuoka said, "It was difficult, but the day has finally come. I would be happy if the customers enjoyed the food."

According to Kitakyushu City, 9 of the 87 stores that were burned in two fires have not yet resumed operations.
