The Benidorm Fest, at the crossroads: a great Spanish song festival or a simple selection for Eurovision?

4 participants will pass from each semifinal.

The winner of the final, in which there will be 8 participants, will be the next representative of Spain in

Eurovision 2023

.

How will the professional jury and the public vote in this edition?

It will be the same as in the first edition: 50% of the weight for the professional jury and 50% for the public, divided equally between televoting and demoscopic jury.

In the event of a tie in the sum of the votes of the jury and the public, the song/artist that receives the best score from the jury will be the winner.

The bases that regulate the

Benidorm Fest

voting system are public and official.

In the first semifinal and in the second, nine applicants will perform, of which four will be selected and go on to the final phase.

The five artists with the lowest score will be eliminated.

Eight artists will reach the final and the one with the highest score will win.

Once they have performed -in the order established by

RTVE

based on operational and television criteria in the case of the semifinals, or by lottery except for operational necessity in the case of the final-, the nine artists in each semifinal, or the eight artists in the In the case of the final, the presenters,

Rodrigo Vázquez and Mónica Naranjo

, will indicate that the lines are open so that the viewing public can vote through the televoting system (calls, SMS) for each of the applicants, who will have a previously assigned number .

After the time determined by the organization, the televoting lines will be closed and the counting of the votes by all the systems will begin.

At that time, the jury and the public will vote through the demoscopic system.

First, the vote of the face-to-face jury made up of

Christer Björkman, Nicola Caligiore, Tali Eshkoli, Katrina Leskanich, William Lee Adams

, as international jury, will be made public;

Nina, Irene Valiente and José Juan Santana

as a national.

Next, the public votes will be revealed through the demoscopic sample (25% worth).

Finally, the result will be revealed to the public through televoting (the other 25%).

The entire process will be verified by a notary and the results obtained will be protocolized.

Voting is distributed as follows:

The jury's vote

has a value of 50%.

The jury is made up of eight members, three national and five international.

Each of the eight members will vote, assigning 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2 points to the candidates of the first semifinal and the second;

and 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 and 2 in the case of the final.

If several artists are tied at this stage, it will be resolved later by adding the votes of the public.

The

vote of the demoscopic public

has a value of 25%.

The result of the sum of the votes of the 350 people that make up the demoscopic sample will result in a ranking of the participants by number of votes.

The positions of this ranking will become the 3 points (40, 35, 30, 28, 25, 22, 20, 15 and 13 in the case of the 1st and 2nd semifinal; and 40, 35, 30, 28, 25, 22, 20 and 16 in the case of the final) that corresponds to them so that it is 25%.

In the event that there are ties in the results of the ranking, in order to assign the points, the tie will be broken according to the following criteria: in the event of a tie in the number of votes of the demoscopic public, it will be resolved by reference of the jury, that is, the one with the most The votes of the jury will be the one that adds the points of the superior position.

If the tie is not resolved with this, the tie will be broken with whoever has the most full votes of the jury (plus 12, or plus 10...).

The public vote through calls and SMS

will be counted in the same way and with the same procedure.

The result of the sum of all the points will determine the winner, being chosen the song and representative of Spain in the next

Eurovision Song Contest 2023

.

In the event that there were ties in the sum of the votes of the jury (50%) and the public (50%), in the semifinals ties would be resolved only up to 4th place, which is the cutoff to access the final.

And in the final, ties will only be resolved if it affects the 1st place by being the winner.

All other ties will not be broken.

In the event of a tie in the sum of the votes of the jury and the public, the winner will be the one who receives the best score from the jury.

Therefore,

ties will be resolved by reference to the jury

, that is, the artist with the most votes from the jury will be the one with the highest position, and will therefore be selected.

In the event of technical failures in the demoscopic voting and televoting systems to

determine the results of the public voting, the winner will be whoever receives the best score from the jury.

However, if the technical failures only occur in one of the systems (either in the demoscopic or in the televoting), the other public voting system that has not presented failures will represent 50% of the result of the public, to all effects.

And finally, in the event that there is

any sick leave for the semifinals

, the participant will be directly eliminated.

If this is the case, there will be fewer participants in the semifinal or final, and the scoring system will be modified.
