The average unemployment rate last year was 2.6%, an improvement of 0.2 percentage points from the previous year.
The improvement seen in a year is the first in four years, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications says that it is the result of normalization of socioeconomic activities, such as an increase in the number of employees in the accommodation and restaurant industries, which had been depressed due to the corona disaster.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the number of employed people in December last year was 67.16 million, an increase of 100,000 from the same month of the previous year, while the number of unemployed people was 1.58 million, a decrease of 150,000.
Excluding seasonal factors, the national unemployment rate was 2.5%, unchanged from the previous month.
Last year, the average unemployment rate was 2.6%, an improvement of 0.2 percentage points from the previous year.
It will be the first time in four years that the unemployment rate has improved.
The average annual number of employed people is 67.23 million, an increase of 100,000 from the previous year, while the number of unemployed people has decreased by 160,000 to 1.79 million.
Looking at the number of employees by occupation, the number of people employed in the “accommodation and food service industry” increased by 100,000 to 3.81 million, the first increase in three years.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said, "This is the result of the normalization of socioeconomic activities, such as the recovery of the number of workers in the industries hit by the corona disaster, and we would like to pay attention to whether this trend will take hold in the future."
