• The new monmaster.gouv.fr platform, which will go online this Wednesday, is intended for

    bac + 3.

  • Students will be able to make 15 wishes for a classic master's degree and 15 additional wishes for work-study training.

  • The admission of candidates will be from June 23 to July 21.

Put an end to human waste.

For several years, hundreds of students who have completed their three years of bachelor's degree have not found any university to welcome them for a master's degree.

In an attempt to limit the number of "stranded", the Ministry of Higher Education is launching this Wednesday a new platform on the Internet, called "My Master", which should facilitate the assignment of students.

20 Minutes

gives you its instructions.

What training will be offered?

All national master's degrees.

"But not those who issue the master's degree", specifies the Ministry of Higher Education.

So exit the specialized masters and MBAs.

Around 185,000 places will be offered for masters on the platform, knowing that around 165,000 students hold an L3 each year.

The latter are not the only ones to apply, because graduates of professional licenses and foreign students do so too.

"The most requested masters are in law, psychology, economics-management and life sciences", specifies Rue Descartes.

How many wishes can you make?

Students will be able to apply for 15 masters in classical training and 15 others in work-study.

"It's a way to increase their chances and avoid the phenomena of self-censorship", comments the entourage of Sylvie Retailleau, the Minister of Higher Education and Research.

The counting of these applications will be done by mention of master within the same faculty.

A student will therefore be able to apply for several courses offered within the same master's degree, this will only count as one application.

For example, if he applies for the “Private Law” option at University X, this will only count as one application, even if he applies for the “Real Estate Transactions Law” and “General Private Law” courses.

What are the different phases of the procedure?

From this Wednesday until March 22, students will be able to consult the master's sheets, which will contain a lot of interesting information: the content of the training, its reception capacities, the skills expected, the recommended license mentions , opportunities… From March 22 and until April 18 at 11:59 p.m., they will have to submit their applications

once.

The universities will then have a little over two months to analyze the files received.

June 23 will be a great day for students, as they will discover the first answers to their wishes, which will last until July 21.

They can either accept a proposal definitively, or refuse it, or accept it provisionally while keeping other wishes for which they are on the waiting list, in case places become available.

But be careful: only one proposal can be definitively accepted.

For a proposal received before June 24 inclusive, the student must decide no later than June 26, at 11:59 p.m.

And when new proposals are made to him after that date, he will have 24 hours to decide.

What are the selection criteria for teaching teams?

Unlike Parcoursup, "My Master" will not carry out a first sorting of applications.

“It is not an algorithm, but a transmission belt between candidates and universities,” insists the ministry.

Each teaching team defines its own selection criteria.

The candidate's project, his motivation, the consistency of his career, his grades are assessed.

Some universities may invite candidates for a written or oral selection between April 24 to June 16.

Will students who have completed their bachelor's degree in the university where he is applying for a master's degree be favored?

“One can imagine that a particular look will be taken on his candidacy”, declares Rue Descartes, without getting too wet.

What if we did not get any positive response on July 21?

The student will be able to contact the rectorate to request support in order to find a place in a master's degree.

“In 2021, 6,500 candidates had taken this step and in 2022, there were 4,200.

We think that this number will drop further, ”says Sylvie Retailleau’s entourage.

Are there any special arrangements for work-study training?

Yes !

For work-study training, the answers will be sent over the water, from April 24 to September 30.

They can only be positive if the candidate has signed a work-study contract with a company or an administration.

As for the classic way, the candidate can either definitively accept a proposal, or refuse it, or accept it provisionally, while retaining others that have been made to him.

For a proposal received before June 24 inclusive, he must decide no later than June 26, at 11:59 p.m.

In case of acceptance in training after this date and until July 20, he will have 24 hours to decide.

For a proposal received after July 21, he will have 3 days to decide.

Is mobility assistance provided for students who will be moving?

Yes, but not for everyone.

Only scholarship holders will be entitled to it and it will amount to 1,000 euros.

"Last year, 7,200 students benefited from this aid", specifies the entourage of Sylvie Retailleau.

What are the expected benefits of this new platform?

According to Sylvie Retailleau's entourage, she will have several virtues, including that of "harmonizing the calendar of applications and accelerating responses to students".

The other objective is to reduce the tensions between supply and demand at the university.

“Before the platform, students didn't always think about withdrawing and blocked places.

The number could not be known until the end of the summer.

From now on, we will know before the summer the places still available and we will be able to better reallocate them, ”adds the ministry.

The issue is all the more important as a growing number of students are now appealing to the courts to contest a refusal of admission to a master's degree.

Last but not least, the “administrative burden” of students should decrease.

“They will no longer have stamped kraft envelopes to send to all training,” comments the ministry.

And the reduction in paperwork will perhaps encourage them to apply for more masters.

What are the unions' warning points?

Student organizations were calling for a system to improve the visibility of the master's assignment.

But according to Imane Ouelhadj, president of Unef, there are still points of concern:

“We don't know how the files will be sorted by the universities.

And we fear that next year, the platform will be configured to sort applications as on Parcoursup.

“For her, “My Master” will not solve the main problem of students, “namely the lack of places in certain courses, such as law, Staps and psychology.

This suggests that still too many students will accept a default proposal, just to avoid a blank year.
