Before Setsubun, an aquarium in Susami Town, Wakayama Prefecture is holding a special exhibition of creatures with the name "Oni" in them.
The Shrimp and Crab Aquarium in Susami Town holds special exhibitions related to Setsubun every year.
This year, 23 creatures of 3 types, named "Oni", which also live in Susami Town, are on display.
Among them, a large hermit crab in a tank decorated with red and blue demons, "Hondo Oni Hermit Crab", has bristles on its legs that are reminiscent of demons.
In addition, the giant lugworm "Onisome" usually inhabits narrow gaps between rocks and sandy shores, so it is difficult to see the whole body, but you can observe it from a special aquarium.
The individual on display is about 60 centimeters in length, but some grow to be about 3 meters in length.
On the other hand, in connection with good fortune, "Kusafugu", a kind of pufferfish, is also on display.
A woman in her 30s who visited from Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture said, "I think children would get a lot of attention if there was an oni inside. It was fun."
Atsushi Hirai, the director of the Shrimp and Crab Aquarium, said, "Oni is a hated person, but there are many very strange and interesting 'Oni' inhabiting the sea, so you can see them with a chuckle. Tara,” he said.
This special exhibition will be held until the 5th of this month.
