Dubai Culture: Al Quoz Festival enriches the art scene

Hala Badri, Director General of the Culture and Arts Authority in Dubai (Dubai Culture), confirmed that the Al Quoz Arts Festival is a qualitative addition that enriches the local cultural and artistic scene, which supports the authority's commitment to creating a sustainable creative environment capable of attracting creators from all over the world, praising the artworks participating in the festival. The festival, whose 10th edition bears the slogan "Travel", will be held in "Al Serkal Avenue" in Al Quoz.

Hala Badri was briefed on the variety of artworks presented by the festival over the course of two days. Al Serkal”, and was distinguished by its strong harmony with the slogan of the 10th edition of the festival.

The fair featured a rich program of talks and diverse workshops aimed at helping the audience delve deeper into concepts related to nature, sustainability, and digital arts and culture.

The Al Quoz Arts Festival, which concluded the day before yesterday, included more than 50 creative concepts, and presented a variety of sensory experiences distributed over three imaginary worlds: “journey to nature”, “journey to childhood” and “journey to the cyborg”, which were embodied Through various installation works and various artistic activities, it attracted more than 34,000 visitors.

The Director General of "Dubai Culture" also visited the "Laila Hiller" gallery, and was briefed on the exhibition of the Italian artist Lorenzo Quinn, in which he presents his philosophy and his special view of everything we say and do in life, and its impact on changing the course of events, and wandered around an exhibition by the artist Behrang Samdzadegan. And in it he seeks to imagine and recreate history by drawing its mysterious aspects, in addition to an exhibition by the artist Arash Nazari, who reviews through his works the state of contradiction between classic miniature art and color tones in contemporary art, to highlight the nature of changes that art has witnessed over time.

Hala Badri toured the series of various exhibitions and events hosted by the “Concrete” area, and followed up on the variety of innovative interactive experiences presented by the “Irregular” digital art studio.

She visited the "Carbon 12" gallery, which hosts the fifth solo exhibition of artist Gil Heitor Cortisau.

 Diverse programme

This year's edition of Al Quoz Arts Festival included a variety of artistic and musical works, including the "Mastaria Exhibition", which showcased the creations of nine artists from Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, the Green Art Gallery presented a special exhibition by the Lebanese artist and sculptor Shawky Shawkini, who was influenced by Japanese art.

The festival also witnessed a mix of workshops and musical performances presented by Boukulthoum and Saint Levant, DJ and hip-hop artist Big Hass, Burmese-Australian rapper and poet Omar Musa, and others.
