The Japanese animation 'The First Slam Dunk' showed amazing potential by topping the weekend box office in its fourth week of release.



On the 30th, according to the integrated computer network of movie theater tickets of the Korea Film Promotion Commission, 'The First Slam Dunk' mobilized 249,203 viewers nationwide from the 27th to the 29th.

The cumulative number of viewers was 1,922,719.



'The First Slam Dunk', which was released on the 4th, debuted at No. 2 at the box office and stayed at No. 2 and 3 all the time.

Then, on the 27th, 23 days after its release, it topped the box office for the first time, and then topped the box office in the 4th week.



'The First Slam Dunk' is a youth drama depicting challenges, frustrations, quarrels and reconciliation in the process of running towards the dream of national domination by the 5 basketball teams of Buksan High School.

It is a movie based on the cartoon 'Slam Dunk', which was published serially from 1990 to 1996 and exceeded 170 million copies in cumulative circulation.

The theatrical version drew explosive attention as the original author Takehiko Inoue participated in the script and directing.

The box office success of this film was led by 3040 audiences.

At the time of the serialization of the cartoon, audiences in their 30s and 40s who had spent their school days were enthusiastic about the movie, recalling memories and nostalgia.

After watching it, they poured out their impressions of the movie on social media and communities, spreading word of mouth, which influenced generations above and below.

'The First Slam Dunk' is popular not only in the subtitled version but also in the dubbed version, drawing duplicate viewings.



Meanwhile, the Korean film 'Negotiation', which took first place in the box office on the first weekend of its release, fell to second place after only attracting 205,523 people during the same period.

The cumulative number of viewers was 1,439,963.

'Bargaining', which took the top spot at the box office within a week of its release, turned on a red light when it broke the break-even point (approximately 3.5 million viewers).
