During the summer of 1980, young Thibault's sister-in-law, accompanied by her three children, came to pick him up by car at Evron station.

On the road, the unthinkable happens: the five of them end up in a terrible car accident which costs the life of his sister-in-law.

A retreat in a monastery

"I had a head trauma that caused me to lose immediate memory of what had happened and above all, it was as if my batteries were completely discharged. I had to sleep 15 or 16 hours a day", remembers the actor who, at the time, wanted to become a priest.

"I was told: 'You have to recover your health in the mountains'. I said: 'Okay, very well, but I want it to be in a monastery', since at the time I was thinking of entering the seminary".

Thibault de Montalembert therefore rested in a monastery near Montélimar.

"I fell in love with the place, the people, this way of life and I wanted to go back there", remembers the actor at the microphone of Isabelle Morizet.

But there was a small downside: "Yes, it suited me quite well, it lacked a bit of women."

While the monks had advised him to leave the monastery for a year to retake his baccalaureate, which he had failed, Thibault de Montalembert ultimately never returned.

"So I returned to Paris. I did my baccalaureate by correspondence and I saw people, cousins, family, etc... And then I met a young woman with whom I fell in love and I I married him”, says the one who will launch a few years later in the comedy…
