, it wasn't the diagnosis that made him hold back on the bottle afterwards.
“I didn't know what was happening to me.
I didn't know what awaited me.
So what if I had four glasses of wine and maybe a shot?
“, he explains in this film just presented at the Sundance festival.
“I was definitely an alcoholic.
But it's been 30 years since I've had a drink.

Either way, alcohol was just one of the strategies the

star found to manage the symptoms of the disease while he was still working.
Like Smarties
By his own admission, Michael J. Fox popped dopamine pills "like Smarties" to ease his symptoms while on set.
“I wasn't taking these pills for comfort or for their therapeutic value.
It was for one reason: to hide myself, ”he continues in an excerpt broadcast by

“I became a virtuoso in taking medication, so I had the climb at exactly the right time and in the right place.
