On Mt. Rokko in Kobe City, work was carried out to cut ice from a pond to be used as a natural air conditioner in the summer and transport it to storage.

Rokko Shidare, an observatory with an altitude of 888 meters near the summit of Mt. Rokko in Nada Ward, Kobe City, cuts out and stores the ice that fills the pond in the winter and uses it as a natural air conditioner in the summer.

On the 27th, work was carried out to cut out rainwater from a pond called "ice shelf".

While the temperature dropped to minus 1 degree Celsius and it was snowing, the workers cut out 7 cm thick ice with a chainsaw and carried it one after another to the storage called "Himuro" on the observatory.

The cutting work, which is usually carried out in the coldest weather, was postponed due to the warm weather in the middle of this month.

Approximately 10 tons of ice will be stored and will be used as a natural air conditioner from July. I want them to cool off and experience the nature of Mt. Rokko."
