The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) has announced that it will conduct joint exercises with the US Marine Corps in Kyushu and Okinawa from February, assuming the defense of remote islands.

According to the Ground Self-Defense Force, joint exercises with the US Marine Corps will be held in Kyushu and Okinawa from February 16 to March 12, with a total of 1,700 personnel including members of the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force stationed in Okinawa.

Camp Hansen Marine Corps Base in Okinawa Prefecture
