The Tokyo metropolitan government has decided to start investigating how shelters should be to reduce damage in the unlikely event of serious damage caused by a missile.

In preparation for a situation such as a missile attack, the national government is asking prefectures to designate evacuation facilities that are easy to evacuate immediately and can be used for relief activities.

According to the metropolitan government, as of the 25th, 3949 strong facilities such as concrete buildings and subway stations have been designated as "emergency temporary evacuation facilities" in Tokyo, and facilities for the population of 14 million people in the city have not been secured. It means that

These facilities are expected to be damaged by flying objects caused by blasts and explosions, but according to people involved, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is preparing for even more serious damage, and will reduce the damage to the current evacuation facilities. We have decided to start investigating how shelters can be mitigated.

Specifically, it is currently being considered to conduct a survey on how to use subway stations designated as evacuation facilities and the functions necessary for medium- to long-term evacuation.

The Tokyo metropolitan government plans to include approximately 20 million yen in the budget proposal for the new fiscal year as research expenses, and is scheduled to be deliberated at the metropolitan assembly starting next month.
