Ruben Östlund's "Triangle of sadness" has three nominations for this year's Oscars, including in the heavy category Best Film.

According to entertainment journalist Christina Jeurling Birro, this is "historic".

- This is huge for him and for Swedish film, she says in SVT Morgonstudion and continues:

- It is good for Swedish film in every way, that you can talk about it and be out there.

We need it.

"Great fun" mix in Best Film

The mix of nominees in the Film of the Year category describes Jeurling Birro as "a lot of fun", because they go against the criticism directed at the category in previous years.

- Several nominees are blockbusters that people have actually seen.

It has become a bit of a joke in the context of the Oscars that people haven't seen Best Picture, she says.

"Everything everywhere all at once" has the most chances of winning with 11 nominations, and is thus predicted to take the grand slam.

No female director nominated

When it comes to the Best Director category, Jeurling Birro is not as happy.

This year, not a single female director is nominated.

- A bit sad because female directors have won this category two years in a row, she says in SVT.

Among the nominees in the Best Screenplay category, however, there are "no surprises".

Best actor picks

When it comes to Best Actress, Jeurling Birro predicts that Cate Blanchett will take home the win for her performance in "Tár".

Best male lead, she thinks, goes to either Austin Butler's interpretation of Elvis, or Brendan Fraser in "The Whale".

As for Best Supporting Actor, she picks Ke Huy Quan for "Everything everywhere all at once", while Best Supporting Actress offered some unexpected nominations.

Including Jamie Lee Curtis' long-awaited nomination and Angela Bassett's for her performance in "Black Panther: Wakanda forever".

Marvel movies in particular have not fared particularly well in the context of the Oscars.

This year's Oscars is the 95th in a row, and takes place on March 13.
