With this nomination, the 64-year-old star, who plays Queen Ramonda, breaks several records.



The actress first becomes the first actress to be nominated for a role in a Marvel Studios film.

She is also the first woman and of color to be in the running for a feature film adapted from a comic book.

This role obviously means a lot to Angela Bassett, who explained on Instagram that her character is also “a love letter that reflects and recognizes what we women do every day”.

Angela Bassett also thanked the Academy for naming her "among a wonderful group of actresses."

She also took the opportunity to congratulate "her nominated colleagues" for the same film and express her anticipation for "March 12 as we encourage and celebrate with each other".

This is the second time the Academy has selected her.
