Tom Hanks gets 3 nominations for worst movie of the year

The fact that Tom Hanks' "Elvis" is among the front-runners at the Academy Awards did not prevent the star's name from being included in three categories on the list of nominations for the "Razzi Awards", the Oscar's opposite, which is awarded for the worst productions of the year.

The organizers of these satirical awards chose the actor in the short list of nominations for his role as director of Elvis Presley's work in a film about his biography, and for his voice as the embodiment of the character of wood carver Geppetto in the new version of the famous "Disney" movie "Pinocchio".

A statement issued by the "Razzie" organizers stated that Hanks presented the "Most Contemptuous Performance of 2022" in the movie "Elvis", which made him nominated for two of these awards.

Although the movie "Elvis" itself was widely acclaimed by critics, as well as the performance of star Austin Butler in it, Tom Hanks in the role of Elvis' manager was subject to criticism.

As for Disney's "Pinocchio", it is among the five films nominated for a "Razzie" award for "worst film", along with "Blond", which deals with the biography of Marilyn Monroe.

The Golden Raspberry Awards, the official name of the Razzie, were launched in Los Angeles in 1981 by former film students and Hollywood professionals.

The names of the winners of these awards will be announced on March 26, the eve of the Oscars.

Winners will receive a prize representing a golf ball-sized berry placed on a Super 8 film reel.
