The Philippine Statistics Authority said that heart disease was the leading cause of death among Filipinos in 2022, according to the Philippine newspaper "Manila Times".
Coronary artery disease, caused by narrowing of the arteries, caused the death of 77,173 people in the country during the period from January to September 2022, which represents 18.5% of the total deaths in the Philippines.
In second place came stroke diseases, which were responsible for recording 42,890 deaths, followed by cancer.
