Two beautiful catches the same day.

Customs officers in La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime) and Hendaye (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) seized more than a ton of cannabis between them on January 20, French customs announced on Tuesday.

It was the agents of the La Rochelle brigade who opened the ball, by "selecting" last Friday morning a semi-trailer registered in Spain, on the RN10 in the south/north direction.

The control of the truck carrying the shower screens led to “the discovery of 23 Moroccan suitcases and 5 large sports bags containing resin and herbal cannabis behind the pallets carrying the shower screens.

In total, the goods amounted to 755.5 kg of cannabis resin and 45 kg of cannabis herb.

256 kg of cannabis hidden in a shipment of pellets

The same day, at the beginning of the evening, the agents of the Hendaye brigade checked on their side a truck making a Spain/France journey and transporting 20 storage bags of pellets.

"At first, they discover heat-sealed plastic bags containing herbal cannabis between the bags, then, climbing on the bags, they notice a difference in density between them, which leads them to find new bags of cannabis. 'herb of cannabis' indicates the customs in a press release.

The seizure amounts to a total of 256 kg of cannabis.

In 2021, customs seized 74.86 tonnes of cannabis.
