The list of films and professionals in competition for the 2023 Oscars, whose ceremony will be held on March 12, was announced on Tuesday.

This is the story of a laundromat owner immersed in parallel universes during a tax audit.
With eleven nominations, the comedy
Everything Everywhere All At Once
is one of the most cited films and, therefore, the best placed to receive several Oscars.
In addition to Best Picture, its actors find themselves in the running for the four interpretation awards: Best Supporting Male and Female Roles, Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh and Best Actor for Ke Huy Quan, preview, child, 40 years ago in an episode of
Indiana Jones
.
German film
Nothing New in the West
also topped the list with nine nominations, as did Irish tragicomedy
The Banshees of Inisherin
with
nine nominations as well.
The biopic
Elvis
about the rock'n'roll legend and Steven Spielberg's latest feature film
The Fabelmans
will also be present on March 12, at the Oscars ceremony.
However, no French film was selected.
Saint-Omer,
by Alice Diop, was nevertheless approached to compete for the precious reward.
On the other hand, we find in the category of foreign films the Belgian feature film

by director Lukas Dhont, presented at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received the Grand Jury Prize, or
The Quiet Girl,
a film in the Gaelic language which beat box office records in Ireland and the UK.
Avatar: The Way of the Water
, which exceeded $2 billion at the box office, was only nominated in one major category: best picture.
Top Gun
is also included and totals six nominations.
But the Maverick pilot played by Tom Cruise has already succeeded in his mission.
It was he who first brought spectators back to theaters, after the waves of Covid last year.
