A memorial service was held on Sunday for Lisa Marie Presley, who died of a heart attack aged 54.

Many stars made the trip to the Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee, to pay their last respects.

Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, gave a poignant speech to her "sister", referring to Queen Elizabeth II.

“My late mother-in-law used to say that no words could take away the anguish and pain of those times, because grief is the price we pay for love.

And how right she was, ”she told the assembly, as relayed by the BBC.

A grieving family

Priscilla Presley, the mother of Lisa Marie, also took the stage to thank everyone present.

The ex-wife of Elvis Presley then read a touching poem written by her 14-year-old granddaughter, Harper: “Mom was my icon, my role model, my superhero and much more.

Finally, Ben Smith-Peterson, son-in-law of Lisa Marie Presley, paid tribute to his mother-in-law by reading the words of his wife, Riley Keough, as the couple recently became parents.

“I hope to be able to love my daughter as you have loved me, as you have loved my brother and my sisters.

Thank you for giving me strength, my heart, my empathy, my courage, my sense of humor,” he read.

A musical tribute

The memorial service was also celebrated with music.

Axl Rose, the leader of Guns N'Roses, said he was still in shock, before going to the piano.

He performed his band's title track,

November Rain

.

Billy Corgan, who worked with Lisa Marie Presley, performed

To Sheila

, a title by the Smashing Pumpkins.

As for Alanis Morissette, she offered a moving interpretation of

Rest

, accompanied by a pianist.

To conclude this beautiful musical tribute, The Blackwood Brothers Quartet, who were present at Elvis Presley's funeral in 1977 - in another formation, performed two gospel songs,

How Great Thou Art

and

Sweet, Sweet Spirit

.

Lisa Marie Presley was buried alongside her late son Benjamin Keough and near her father, as well as her grandparents.
