Close the worst "McDonald's" in the world.. 1000 complaints from neighbors

Authorities in Ottawa, Canada, have decided to close a McDonald's restaurant after 38 years in the neighborhood due to the "ongoing criminal activity and social unrest" taking place at the fast food location on tourist-bust Rideau Street.

Because of the large number of complaints about this branch, which exceeded a thousand, it was classified as "the worst McDonald's in the world."

CTV News listed the causes of the complaints, which ranged from unethical practices to drug deals and constant violent fights between customers.

The branch first gained notoriety in 2013 after posting a video clip showing a man pulling a baby raccoon he had hidden in his jacket during a fierce fight between several young men inside the restaurant's hall.

Part of the restaurant's chaotic energy is due to its location in the heart of the tourist area where there are many bars and restaurants.

People often flock to the fast food chain late at night to eat after drinking.

Although both (involved in) Ottawa and McDonald's have tried to help reduce the amount of unacceptable activity in the restaurant, they do not seem to have succeeded.

In 2019, the former Ottawa Police Chief sent a letter to the President and CEO of McDonald's Canada about the concerns of the Rideau Street restaurant after which the fast food chain decided to change its operating hours from 24 hours a day to 6 am - 10 pm.

In addition to the chaotic energy, the McDonald's site also faced revenue challenges, especially after changing operating hours, which ultimately led to the decision to close it. The restaurant will close in April and its space will be available for rent starting in July.
