In response to the sale of Sogo & Seibu, a major department store, to an investment fund, Mayor Kamiya of Chiba City said, "'Sogo Chiba store' is a symbol of the city, and we will continue to carry on the functions and roles it has played as much as possible. I have put together a request form such as "I want it."

Seven & i Holdings affiliated department store "Sogo Seibu" has been decided to be sold to an investment fund in the United States. It is a policy to acquire some stores such as stores and develop home appliance mass retailers.

In response to this, Mayor Kamiya of Chiba City sent a letter of request to the media companies on the 23rd, saying, "'Sogo Chiba store' is a symbol of the city, and I want it to inherit the functions and roles that it has played so far as much as possible." In summary, I clarified that I submitted it to the "Sogo / Seibu" side.

Mayor Kamiya said, "Chiba City has drawn up a grand design to create a lively town based on the current existence of Sogo, so I would like to see developments in line with that."

"Sogo/Seibu" responded, "We can't say anything about the future at this point, but we understand Chiba City's intentions."

Regarding the sale of "Sogo / Seibu", Mayor Takano of Toshima Ward, Tokyo has compiled a petition stating that "Seibu Ikebukuro main store is the face of Ikebukuro and the entrance of the town" and is appealing for its survival as a department store.
