Around 1:30 am on the 22nd, there was a report that a fire was occurring in a three-story housing complex in Minatomachi, Hyogo Ward, Kobe City.

According to the fire department, the fire was almost extinguished after about an hour, but four people died in this fire and four people were injured and transported to the hospital.

Three of the four people who were transported to the hospital are in critical condition.

The site of the fire is an area lined with corporate offices and housing complexes about 1 km south of JR Kobe Station in Kobe City.

The JR Kobe Line runs in front of the site.

A woman living in the neighborhood said, "There is a lot of smoke at the site."

A woman in her 50s who lives near the scene of the fire said, "When I heard the sirens of many fire trucks, I thought there was a fire somewhere, but the sound stopped nearby, so I came to see how it was. There was a lot of smoke at the site, and firefighters were rescuing people who were in the room.There were many people living in the building, so I was worried that the fire would spread to the surrounding area."
