The contents of the Pentagon's new military aid package to Ukraine were hardly surprising.

They were waiting for the BMP Bradley, and

APC Stryker?

Here they will be placed.

Didn't expect Abrams tanks?

They won't.

Washington is not yet ready to cross this red line.

The European allies are being pushed forward, of which only Berlin is still somehow resisting.

We didn't cross another red line.

Despite the stuffing that the United States is ready to encourage the Armed Forces of Ukraine in their desire to attack the Russian Crimea, the package did not include GLSDB precision-guided munitions with a range of about 150 km.

There are also no long-range ATACMS missiles for HIMARS systems.

That is, the American authorities are shaky, but still balancing on the edge of the abyss, beyond which global escalation.

So everything is more or less clear with the package.

More interesting are the circumstances preceding its formation, and how many more packages there will be.

Coincidentally or not, less than two hours before the release of official information from the Pentagon about the allocation of $ 2.5 billion in weapons, The Washington Post published an article about a secret visit to Kyiv by CIA Director William Burns last week.

Looks like a controlled leak.

Moreover, the newspaper refers to its own sources in the American administration.

But who then is the target audience for the leak, if it is she?

It is possible that just Zelensky and his entourage.

If we discard the husk, then the main message of the WP material is the recognition of the fact of the discussion of how long Ukraine can count on the help of the United States and the West in the new conditions of supremacy in the Congress of the Republican majority.

If they are discussing it, then there is a problem.

When everything is fine, there is nothing to talk about.

It is then logical to assume that by transferring the secret conversation that began in Kyiv into the public field (at least at the level of the theses of the mentioned article), the American authorities are striving to fix the new status quo.

To outline a roadmap for future developments in the area of military assistance.

And at the same time stop the potential whining of the wards.

Basically, there are two theses.

First, Burns, according to the WP article, "acknowledged that it will be harder to get help (for Ukraine) at some point" and also that "Kyiv is less confident about the prospects for congressional approval of another multibillion-dollar additional aid package.

Secondly, the $45 billion allocated last year, apparently, Ukraine will need to master before July or August.

Such a time period absolutely fits into the chronology of the US election campaign.

In September, potential rivals of Joe Biden (they write that he must announce his nomination after February 7), Republican candidates, will already compete in eloquence with might and main - and each of them is guaranteed to be trampled in that Ukraine.

The White House technologists, of course, do not need this.

That is why Zelensky is being warned that the window of opportunity for him by this time will, at best, turn into a gap.

If it doesn't close at all.

There are also some other interesting points.

It was after the described secret meeting between Burns and Zelensky that Arestovich left the game, and then, under mysterious circumstances, a helicopter with the leadership of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs crashed in Brovary.

After that, the WSJ newspaper promptly published an investigation material on the liquidation in March 2022 by the SBU of the financier-spy Denis Kireev, who allegedly was the first to inform the head of Ukrainian intelligence about the date of the start of the SVO.

It is also indicative that the author of the article, Brett Forrest, who specializes in national security issues, rarely writes for the newspaper.

His previous material was dated as early as October 31, 2022.

There is a complete feeling that the article (taking into account the fact that Kireev was eliminated back in March 2022) was written ahead of time and was just waiting in the wings.

It was as if Zelensky or someone from his entourage was shown for a second a couple of sheets from a thick folder with compromising evidence.

A kind of promotional material.

With a hint that there is more - and much more.

Something tells me that Burns' trip to Kyiv may have other unexpected consequences.

The point of view of the author may not coincide with the position of the editors
