The Hamburg rapper Gzuz, convicted of assault and violations of the explosives and weapons law, is in prison.

The 34-year-old began his prison sentence on January 13, said the spokeswoman for the public prosecutor's office, Liddy Oechtering, on Friday.

The chief public prosecutor could not say in which prison the musician is being held.

The Hamburg Regional Court had sentenced the frontman of the band 187 Strassenbande to eight months and two weeks in prison on March 4, 2022.

At the same time, the criminal court had imposed a fine of 180 daily rates of 2,300 euros each, i.e. a total of 414,000 euros.

The Chamber punished the slap in the face of a young woman who had asked the rapper for a selfie on the Reeperbahn in the morning.

For that alone he was sentenced to eight months in prison.

Despite a ban on guns for Gzuz, whose real name is Kristoffer Jonas Klauß, the police had seized a blank pistol, a silencer and cartridges when they searched his house.

In addition, the rapper shot into the air with a gas gun on New Year's Eve 2018/19 and had himself filmed.

Last September, the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court rejected an appeal by Gzuz.

The judgment thus became final.

The rapper had previously run into trouble with the law.

From 2010 to 2013 he had served a sentence for robbery and assault.

Welt.de had initially reported on the incarceration.
