[Explanation] The Spring Festival is approaching, and the sun is shining in Moxi Town, Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province. In the resettlement site of transitional board houses, red lanterns are swaying with the breeze.

On September 5, 2022, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred in Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province, with a focal depth of 16 kilometers.

After the earthquake, the villagers whose houses collapsed moved into transitional housing resettlement sites in various towns.

Among them, at the resettlement site on Gongga Avenue, Moxi Town, more than 400 surrounding villagers "carried in with their bags".

Zhang Xinbo, a 19-year-old resident of Moxi Town, was using a computer to study his university courseware. The roof of his home was shattered, and he will spend this winter vacation in a prefabricated house.

Zhang Xinbo is very satisfied with the life in the resettlement site these days. He said that as long as the family is together, eating a bowl of noodles is very happy.

It used to be our family (Chinese New Year), but now (the resettlement site) everyone gets together and the atmosphere is better.

So far, the roof of the house has cracks, so it is leaking, and repair work may be carried out in the next year. If the repair work goes well, it may be possible to (move) back within a few months of the year.

[Explanation] Red lanterns are hung at the door of every house, especially the "small radar" on the roof of every house, which is a satellite TV specially installed a few days ago.

Turn on the TV to watch the program, the happiest is the elderly and children.

I feel happy because I can watch cartoons and the Spring Festival Gala with TV.

[Explanation] The resettlement site in Detuo Town, more than 30 kilometers away from Moxi Town, has many ethnic minority villages around, so dancing has become a way to celebrate the New Year.

Under the scorching sun, Luo Jianqiong, a Yi girl from Ziyachang Village, and her sisters put on traditional Yi costumes, turned on the stereo, and performed a Yi circle dance in the open space. The villagers quickly gathered around hearing the sound.

We will have a party in the third year of junior high school. The main thing is that we practice a dance, and then everyone can dance together. Then everyone who knows how to dance can dance together, dance together, entertain and play together, and have a better New Year's Eve.

Our biggest wish for the New Year is to build a house of our own earlier and move in earlier.

My personal wish is to find a better job after graduation, and (also) I hope that I can get out of the singles as soon as possible.

[Explanation] Walking in the resettlement site, you can see traditional Sichuan New Year products everywhere—Sichuan-flavored sausages and bacon.

A villager took off a piece of bacon, went to the public kitchen, fried a dish of bacon with garlic sprouts, and happily sat around and had a meal with his family.

Some residents of the resettlement site said that no matter how traditional they are, the New Year pigs must still be killed, and bacon must still be eaten.

More than 100 catties of bacon were prepared for the New Year, and it was necessary to celebrate the year of the disaster. It was also lively and crowded with everyone in the board room.

The new year of 2023 will begin again, (hope) the days will get better and better, and everyone is confident.

[Explanation] In the earthquake-stricken area, there are also villagers who have less damage to their houses, so they can celebrate the New Year at their homes in the village, where the flavor of the New Year is naturally stronger.

Before the new year, Zou Yao’s family, a group of villagers in Gonghe Village, Moxi Town, slaughtered three new year pigs at one go. Some of the nearly thousand catties of pork were marinated into bacon, some were made into sausages, and some were fried into crispy meat. Relatives and friends Get together for the new year.

Although it is said that the earthquake was affected, we still have to celebrate the New Year, and our custom of killing pigs in the New Year cannot be lost, so we will still kill pigs this year as always, and we still have a happy New Year.
