Actor Julian Sands never returned from his Mount Baldy hike in California.
The search was launched this weekend and has so far been unsuccessful.
The family of the 65-year-old actor, known for his roles in the
24 Hours Chrono
series or
Smallville
and the films
Ocean's 13
and Leaving Las Vegas, launched the alert last Friday.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department confirmed to
People
that the search, which began Friday evening, had to be abandoned the following day due to poor weather conditions.
Due to the risk of avalanches, the search continued by helicopters and drones, depending on the weather.
Risk area
California has been experiencing catastrophic weather conditions for several weeks, and this mountain located north of Los Angeles is deemed dangerous.
The BBC specifies that 14 emergency calls have been made in the past four weeks in the area, which is not recommended for hikers at the moment.
The sheriff's office says "even experienced hikers can run into problems."
A call that has obviously not been heard by the public, since another hiker is also missing.
Last week, a mother, who was used to hiking, died after slipping a distance of about 150 meters.
