“More than 10,000 police and gendarmes, including 3,500 in Paris” will be mobilized on Thursday to ensure the security of the demonstrations against the pension reform, announced Wednesday on RTL Gérald Darmanin.

The Minister of the Interior added that the authorities expected the arrival in Paris of “a few thousand people who could be violent”, citing “ultraleft” or “ultrajaunes” (radicalized “yellow vests”) ).

To avoid their arrival, he announced "checks" from this Wednesday in the capital as well as in the regions.

He explained that "those who want to break" deposit objects such as knives, helmets, etc., on the route of the demonstration upstream to be able to use them during the parade.

“39 mobile force units” present in Paris

In total in Paris, to prevent incidents or contain them, "39 units of mobile forces" will be present on Thursday.

"Which is a lot but, he argued, we must absolutely distinguish between those who want to express a political opinion and those who want to break".

When asked if he was “worried”, the Minister replied: “I am focused”.

While the CGT federation of mines and energy is considering targeted power cuts against elected officials in favor of pension reform, he judged that “it would be absolutely scandalous”.

The minister added that he had given instructions this Wednesday morning to "protect in particular the offices of elected officials and parliamentarians".

"Attacking an elected representative of the Republic, whoever he is, whatever his political side, putting pressure on him, blackmailing him, this is part of a dictatorship, not a democracy", he said, reporting similar facts already committed in recent days during demonstrations against the pension reform.
