The General Secretariat of the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award revealed the themes of its 12th session, which comes under the title "Diversity", calling on lens owners from all over the world to participate with their creativity in the new session, during the period from the first of April until the 30th of next June.
The Secretary-General of the Award, Ali Khalifa bin Thalith, said, “The award is always working to develop its tools and update its stock of knowledge and skills in pursuit of its vision of spreading the culture of photography, enhancing awareness of the role of the image in the industry of civilization and building bridges of communication between peoples.” And he added: “With our launch of the 12th session We look at the artistic and cultural scene with optimism and shoulder the responsibility of presenting priority issues, using studied methods to maintain the quality of communication and interaction with photographers' communities around the world.
Bin Thalith believed that the "digital art" axis is a visual opportunity for those with messages with intense meanings, as they can present works saturated with meanings and connotations through digital formations that enhance the impact of the idea of artwork.
He explained about the main axis: “Developments in global events are among the main engines for prioritizing issues of concern to the public on the artistic and cultural levels.
From this standpoint, the Board of Trustees of the Award chose (diversity), an urgent intellectual and cultural necessity on the global scene, and a platform for coexistence thought and the principle of tolerance, acceptance of the other, and appreciation of difference.
The arts must play their full role in improving the quality of human communication and confronting tools that counter the prosperity of civilized communication, such as extremism, racism, and others.
For the seventh year in a row, the “Photograph File” axis continues, testing and extracting the photographer's narrative potential and narrative capabilities.
So that the “public” axis remains a space for pure creative freedom that breaks all frameworks and templates, as each photographer sails with his own sails, targeting ports that no one else has discovered.
The new session witnesses the sixth appearance of two categories in the special awards: “Photographic Content Creators Award” and “Promising Photographic Personality / Institution Award”. Photography and contributed to its access to what it is today, and the influential owners of research and inventions also enter it.
