As local government employees are now allowed to have side jobs, a fire department worker from Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture decided to open a craft beer brewery in Gifu Prefecture as a side job.

Daiki Senda (41), who works at the Inuyama City Fire Department, wanted to give back to Minokamo City, Gifu Prefecture, where he spent his high school days with his favorite craft beer, so he applied for a side job and opened a beer brewery. It's decided.

The beer uses pears and honey, which are local specialties of Minokamo City, and part of the sales will be donated to regional revitalization activities.

In addition, he did not receive any compensation and used his days off to operate the business.

According to Inuyama City, it is rare for civil servants to start a business and do a side job.

Mr. Senda plans to obtain a sake brewing license in the future, collect part of the cost through crowdfunding, and open the brewery the month after next.

Mr. Senda said, "I grew up in a single-father family and was supported by the local people when I was a student. Now I want to support the community myself. I want people to know that even civil servants can take on this challenge."
