With the length of a man and a weight of 30 kg.. a giant fish that stirs controversy in the Egyptian street

A rare fish sold in fish markets in Assiut governorate caught the attention of passers-by and customers because of its large size and length, which is close to the height of a man, and its distinctive color and different shape.

One kilo of "Napoleon fish" is sold, as one of the sellers in the market explained, at 110 pounds. It is distinguished by its taste, the color of its translucent white meat, and its high phosphorous content.

And according to Al-Arabiya.net, it is forbidden to catch this fish when it is small, less than 14 kilos, he said, pointing out that people are rushing to buy it, and its teeth are used to make forms of decoration to decorate homes, such as chains.

The rare fish displayed in the market in Assiut sparked widespread controversy because it is on the lists of marine creatures threatened with extinction, and its numbers have decreased sharply due to overfishing. The rare fish has a great impact on the environmental balance in the Red Sea, and it is found in deep coral reef areas. Its females are 50 years old, and the males live for about 45 years, and its numbers are scarce due to the slow rate of reproduction. As for its name, it is attributed to the shape of the front of its head, which resembles a crown, according to the reserve sector.
