Saga Prefecture and the Ariake Sea Fishery Cooperative Association certify the highest quality seaweed produced in Saga Prefecture as a brand called "Saga Nori Ariakekai Ichiban".



On the 16th, an inspection was scheduled to be conducted to select the highest quality seaweed by tasting the "frozen net seaweed" in the second half of the season, which began harvesting from the beginning of this month, but it was canceled because there was no candidate quality. became.



In the Ariake Sea, due to the occurrence of red tide, the nutrients necessary for the growth of seaweed are insufficient, and the quality is reduced in various places, causing "discoloration". was also discontinued.



This is the first time since the accreditation began in 2007 that the highest grade nori was not selected.



A representative of the Saga Prefectural Distribution and Trade Division said, "It's a pity that we weren't able to make the selection. Harvesting of seaweed will continue, so we would like to work with fishermen to improve the sea situation."
